There are two types of engines diesel and petrol
DIESEL ENGINE
Smokes because of 2 REASONS.

1. Engine head have two main components VAUL and SEATS .like every component have its life capacity when (vaul) and (seats) life is over there working capacity and strength decreases they form gaps through which oil seeps through and engine starts smoke usally dark balck.
2. Fule pump of diesel engine have three main component or parts ( nozel) (router)( planjer) any of them when not working properly diesel engine starts smoke .In most cases fuel pump is responsible of smoke.

PETROL ENGINE  

Petrol engine have basically two type of smokes on the basis of colour .GREY SMOKE when engine is weak oil seeps to rings,pistons,vauls,headkits  of engine and when engine combustion take place it produces grey smoke .LIGHT BLUE SMOKE it happens when usage of non synthetic oil(oil not having chemicals) is used . Non synthetic oil deposits carbon particles in engine and when quality changes these particles removes and make gap which leads to formation of light blue smok .So use semi synthetic and authentic oil.
